Welcome to the Cider Orchard Cooperative Web Site.
This site is established as a hub for collection and sharing of knowledge about long-term management of traditional apple orchards, particularly as they are maintained for production of fermented beverages such as cider. Participants include professional and non-professional farmers and cider makers, formal and informal scientists and other observers of nature and culture, and students of many ages.
If you are interested in orchards and cider production then we hope that there are some things of value for you in this site. If you have some observations from your own experiences or research activities we hope that you will be willing to share them so that others will benefit.
Information is being shared in three ways through this site:
1. Individuals responsible for orchards, cider products, or other content mentioned within the site are asked to proof-read what is written here and to give feedback to the contacts in the form of corrections or recommendations for improving the factual quality of the site.
2. Anyone may ask for and receive permission to begin to add content to the site by simply sending a message to one of the contacts and providing a rough idea of the sort of information that will be uploaded. Assistance may also be provided in getting information into the site for those who are not interested in working with computers.
3. Anyone may use the research protocols to collect new information and then receive permission by sending a message to one of the contacts to upload the results as data into this site to share with others.
