Chess for kids in Santa Fe

We are operating regularly after lockdown: Wednesdays at downtown library. Please contact us with questions:

We meet in person: downtown library on Wednesdays at 5:45pm.
We meet and have a lecture and then students play each other or play instructional games with a coach.
Tournaments: the 2025/2026 Mayor's Cup starts February 4, 2026.

At various times we have also had an online chess club for kids who cannot show up in person . With COVID lockdown being over we do not do that regularly, but we could resume if there were great interest.

Our goal is to

Bringing critical thinking skills to children through the enjoyment of chess.

Specifically we try to bring Santa Fe's school age kids together to play chess.

We also offer instruction, we organize tournaments, and we have simultaneous chess matches with strong local players.
