A student in the non-thesis MS program must perform a research project which consists of either a detailed written literature review and critical analysis of a Chemistry topic or an original research project. The topic chosen by the student must be approved by the advisor. In lieu of preparing a thesis, students in the non-thesis MS program must prepare a report based on their study topic and orally present that report to the satisfaction of the committee. The preparation and writing of the report and the oral defense of the report are conducted as a 6-credit Independent Study course, CHGN699.
