(B- grades are not a pass) Students who do not pass a required core course are given a Subject Competency Test in that topic. This test is written and graded by a group of faculty members. A student who passes a Subject Competency Test may continue in the graduate program. If a student fails a Subject Competency Test, the student’s Ph.D. program is terminated.
