To Whom It May Concern:
Charlie has commendable problem solving and management skills. He is able to effect lasting change across an organization thereby positively impacting the work culture. During our time together at Barnes & Noble @ Georgia Tech, I saw how Charlie dealt gracefully with coworkers and customers in a variety of challenging situations. I also was personally involved with his development of a computerized music and store announcement system from abandoned hardware. With minimal expense to the store, Charlie planned, proposed and then implemented a legal, extensible, and easy to understand and operate music and announcement server. It was a great idea which changed the atmosphere of the store from radio banality to cultured professionalism. Charlie is a quick learner and has a keen grasp for the bigger picture. As his mentor for the network systems at the store, I was pleasantly surprised with how little I had to explain and how easily Charlie pieced together how things worked and had an intuitive sense of how to figure out things that weren't at all obvious. It's my understanding that Charlie has continued employing his technical expertise, including detecting an impending drive failure in time to have it repaired before a peak business season.
As a former B&N@GT network security manager and a store department manager, and now as a technology consultant, I feel qualified to identify leadership and innovation. Charlie Mote has proven to me he is skilled in both. It was a pleasure to work with him and supervise his training. I look forward to talking with you about my experience with Charlie's work.
Sincerely,
Jon Earle
