The McMillan Institute for Jungian Studies Presents:
Sexual Dreams: When a Cigar is Not a Cigar
Tuesday, July 15 | 6 – 8 p.m. CT
Sexual fantasies and dreams are often unshared and un-interpreted because they are suffused with shame and we have not understood their more complex psychological, relational or spiritual meanings.
Dreams and fantasies state and solve problems, express emotions and gratify wishes. They portray our current problems, past dilemmas, future possibilities and express in images and stories those feelings and experiences that are the most difficult to think or talk about. Sexual dreams and fantasies are no exception. Jung saw sexual dreams as potential carriers of relational and even spiritual meaning. Freud saw them as reflecting instinctual drives. How do those ideas intertwine in sexual dreams? Can sexual dreams and fantasies have hidden levels of meaning that link one domain of experience with another in a way that can enlarge us?
Sexual dream-related material presented in the class will be provided by the instructor.
