CSW70 themes
Priority: Ensuring and strengthening access to justice for all women and girls, including by promoting inclusive and equitable legal systems, eliminating discriminatory laws, policies, and practices, and addressing structural barriers.
Review: Women’s full and effective participation and decision making in public life, as well as the elimination of violence, for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls.

(September 11-13, 2025) CFUW participated in an historic global gathering united women from 50+ countries and 6 continents! Co-hosted by Graduate Women Zambia in Lusaka, Zambia, CFUW participated in Graduate Women International's (GWI) 35th Triennial General Assembly and Conference September 11-13, 2025 in Lusaka, Zambia. GWI/CFUW members and advocates from around the world engaged in critical dialogue on ways to strengthen education systems through integrated cultural relevance. Five key sub-themes are:
education and empowerment for women in diverse contexts as pathways to a sustainable future;
envisioning a future context in which education, culture, gender, and the economy will operate;
gender-based cultural issues and barriers in education related to gender equity;
the role of relationships, including intergenerational and community ties, in enabling growth and sustainability; and,
the impact of technology, AI, and innovation on empowering women for the future.

March 10-21, 2025: 21 CFUW delegates from across Canada -- with 3 people from BC including Barbara DuMoulin, Chair of CAMEUS -- participated in the UN Commission on the Status of Women: CSW69 / Beijing+30 in New York City!

The main focus of CSW69 was to review and appraise the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (1995) on its 30th anniversary; a review focus includes identifying current challenges affecting its implementation and the achievement of gender equality and empowerment of women and how that contributes to the full realization of the 2023 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
On October 27, 2023, CFUW National sent a letter on the war and humanitarian crisis in Israel and Gaza to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, as well as Ministers Mélanie Joly, Ahmed Hussen, Bill Blair, and Marci Ien, and Canadian Ambassador to the United Nations Robert Rae.
