SOME OF MY FAN TRIP PHOTOGRAPHS

N-5a 2-8-0 No.464 is ready to take my train from Willimantic to Brattleboro.

The trip originated in Boston in May 1954.

The baggage car with wood slats in the open door was the best place to ride.

This May 1954 trip used New Haven cars since the CV had none.

The display for fans at Brattleboro, May 1954.

Box cars had ladders in 1954 - Brattleboro.

The May 22, 1955 fan trip originated in New Haven with Boston and New York connections.

N-5a 2-8-0 No.472 is replacing the New Haven ALCO PA at New London for the ride to Brattleboro.

Palmer, Mass. was the usual water stop.

N-5a 472 took the train down the turntable lead on the May 22, 1955 trip.

N-5a 467 is backing from the engine terminal to Union Station, New London

to replace New Haven power on the October 14, 1956 trip to Amherst. I rode the train but this is not one of my shots.

Note the raised New Haven mainline and the I-95 highway bridge.

After 467 backed from the engine terminal (see above) I photographed the engine change.

The New Haven powered the October 14, 1956 special from New Haven with a pair of new ALCO DL701's.

John P. Scharle got this shot on the October 14, 1956 trip to Amherst.
