Polypeptides are made at the ribosomes.
Polypeptides are then passed down to the rough endoplasmic reticulum where they are packaged into vesicles/vacuoles.
Additional Information:
A protein-conducting channel transports the newly formed protein from the ribosome to the rough endoplasmic reticulum.
3. Vesicles containing polypeptides are sent to the golgi apparatus where carbohydrates are added to the polypeptides to form glycoprotein.
4. Vesicles containing the modified glycoproteins are sent to the cell membrane where they fuse and release the glycoproteins to the cell exterior.
The process whereby proteins are sent from one part of the cell to the next is known as protein trafficking.
