Vegetative growth next to the roadways was identified as an issue at the annual meeting this year. In an effort to make our roads last as long as possible and to increase public safety, several of the board members drove through the neighborhood in late September to assess the situation. We identified some properties where alders/maples/firs or other trees were growing in the ditch or road shoulder. Over time their roots will cause problems to the roadway. Excessive blackberries and other brush growing on the shoulder also force pedestrians onto the roadway which can cause public safety hazards, especially as the daylight lessens. Letters will be going out to homeowners asking them to trim back the vegetation and help us maintain your roadways.
