Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB)
Starting in 2017, we've had sightings of Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs) in Cayuga Lake, including at East Shore Park.
They seem to occur sporadically from July through September, appearing one day, disappearing the next, subject to wind and weather changes.
If you see something that looks like the following picture:
please get out of the water right away, let the club know, and if possible report it to habshotline@gmail.com with pictures, location, date and time.
