CasualMultiPConc Concord

Concord is one of the two main tools on CasualMultiPConc. You can create kwic concordance of one of the corpora and show parallel sentence/paragraph of a selected result.

Creating kwic concordance

You can create kwic concordance of a selected corpus.

    1. Select the main corpus, enter a search word in the Main search box, and click Search.

    1. The kwic result will be shown on the table.

    1. Click one of the lines to show the entry (sentence/paragraph) along with the entry of other corpora.

Creating Keyword Lists

Keyword list is a list of words that are likely to be an equivalent of a search word.

    1. Create kwic concordance.

    2. Go to Menu -> Tool -> Keyword List.

    1. If you haven't made word lists, you are asked to do it. This is because the calculation of keyness depends on the word lists.

    2. The Keywords panel appears with a list of words. The keyness is calculated with Log-Likelihood.

      1. This is a keyword list of an English word 'economy' (like in above images). The equivalent Japanese word is indeed 経済, which is the first word on the list.

    1. You can select a word(s) and right click a word. On the context menu, select Search in Multi Concord to run Multi Concord. In Multi Concord, the search word in the main corpus and the keyword(s) in the selected corpus will be searched.

    1. If you have more than one sub corpus, keyword list will be created for each sub corpus. If you want to search all the selected keywords on multiple keyword lists, check Search All before you search in Multi Concord. All the selected keywords along with the search word(s) will be searched in Multi Concord.
