What is Bush 602-600: Writing for the Medal of Excellence? This course, offered in the fall semester only, is designed to help both first- and second-year students work toward the Medal of Excellence while enhancing their writing skills. Students in the course meet in-person each Thursday from 4:40 p.m. to 5:40 p.m. in the Allen building. This is a zero-credit course, meaning that the course title and grade earned by the student appears on the student's transcript, but the course does not count toward the hours needed for the student's degree plan. The course is offered at no additional cost to the student. Students may enroll in the course through Howdy.
Why take this course?
It gives participants a way to:
create a writing portfolio, which is required for the Medal of Excellence;
receive writing instruction and feedback on their work, helping them to foster their writing skills while simultaneously completing some of the required writing assignments for the Medal of Excellence;
develop a project structure, including setting interim and final deadlines for completing the writing requirements for the Medal of Excellence; and
receive full credit for all of the Medal of Excellence workshops.
Who may take the course?
Any in-resident Bush School or EMPSA student may take the course, though the course is optional for the Medal of Excellence.
How do students enroll?
Students register for the course when they enroll for their other Bush School courses.
