Award Description
Medal of Excellence award recipients have demonstrated higher-order thinking, leadership, and writing skills learned through graduate-level coursework and field experiences, all of which are documented in an integrative learning portfolio. Award recipients have also demonstrated that they are able to work independently to set a goal, devise a plan to achieve it, and prepare a product that has undergone rigorous review and revision in order to meet medal award standards.

Award Criteria
Students receiving this award have
Completed the Bush School Dean’s Leadership Certificate
Submitted and received approval of the ePortfolios project proposal memo and competency map
Submitted and received approval of a mentor text used to guide their writing
Completed a fully developed ePortfolio that includes reflections over competencies expected of professionals in the their degree field
Submitted a final product for rigorous review by Bush School graduate-level faculty, who examine the work for depth of thought and development and strong writing
Revised all reflections and pages until the final product meets medal award standards
Completed all work within the timeframe allotted for their degree
Award Eligibility
Degree-seeking in-residence students in either the Department of International Affairs or the Department of Public Service and Administration
Degree-seeking students in the Executive Master of Public Service and Administration program
