Lifelong Learning
What is the difference between reflecting over a high-impact experience and reflecting over lifelong learning?
High-impact experiences address: "What are the takeaways (insights, paradigm shifts, skills, lessons learned, etc.) identified upon reflecting about an HIE?" These takeaways/lessons learned could be about lifelong learning (or communication, teamwork, diversity, discipline knowledge, etc.). "Deep dive" about the experience.
Lifelong learning addresses: "What does the process of learning look like? Reflection draws from multiple experiences to identify a process (steps or "ingredients") of learning that will transfer to new contexts. Ex: lifelong learners (1) Take regular breaks from an activity to assess something (their progress toward a goal, barriers to achieving a goal, strategies or incentives that move the goal forward, etc.) (2) Look in (examine how they are contributing or hindering the progress) (3) Look out (determine how others or other factors influence an outcome. (4) Make adjustments based on their analysis. (5) Practice what they have learned. For more qualities of lifelong learners, see the assignment page. "Synthesize" from multiple experiences.
