There is A LOT to know about Scouts. Here is just some of the info that you and your scout will need. But don't worry, feel free to ask questions. Your scout will learn as he goes. The older scouts and leaders are there to guide, teach and help. The committee is here as well. Don't hesitate to reach out and ask questions.
We have all learned tips along the way and would love to share them. Scouting is an exciting journey of learning, growth, adventures, friendship, failures and successes...embrace it all.

Tips from the Chair:
Read through the rank requirements
Learn the different merit badges that are required and offered.
The Scout book is critical. Mark it up and take notes. Bring it to every meeting. Don't lose it. Send photos of the pages to the Advancement Chair for rank when they are completed.
Start a binder to keep track of badges, rank, etc. These baseball card holders are great for keeping track of blue cards etc. Scouts will need a binder for Eagle anyways.
Scouts, remember to set a goal for the year of what rank or badges you want to earn. Better to start younger and get stuff done, than be stressed out in high school.
Parents, let your kids fail. That's how they learn. Let them pack for themselves. Encourage them and help when they ask, but give them a chance to do things on their own.
