Important Points Regarding FS1 Issuance:

1. Most important:  determine date DMV is requesting proof of coverage.  If the dates do not match, the FS1 will not clear up the DMV problem.

2. If the client has had a lapse and they are within the re-certification date, best option is to re-certify online and pay fine or in person at dmv. Not via mail.  Advise them that the company has already filed the FS1 electronically and until they re-certifi and pay the fine their issue will not go away. Us faxing will not solve.

   1.  If the client has had a lapse and they are past the re-certification date, they will have to request a hearing to get the tag hold resolved. 919-715-7000

3.  FS1 for NG can be done via chat. This is the easiest way to get the issue resolved.

4.  Never issue an FS1 for a cancelled or cancellation pending policy status.  Never.

5.  Issuing false FS1 reports to dmv is a serious offense, and can result in penalties, including suspension or revocation of your insurance license.
