2 vodka
1/2 rose's lime juice
touch of lemon juice
champagne
berries
This one started as an attempt to recreate a wonderful French 75 (served by a great bartender at Prodigy in Palo Alto). But the recipe changed enough to become something else.
It's made in a shaker, but also put one small ice cube in each glass to start. Put frozen berries in a small bowl of warm water for a minute and stir gently to thaw them. Pour off the water and gently spoon the berries into the glasses that already have a small ice cube. Shake the vodka, lime, and lemon in a shaker with ice. Adjust the amount of rose's and lemon juice to taste.
Pour the drink over the berries. The raspberries will leave a nice color mixing with the others. Fill the top half of the drink with champagne. With this much roses and lemon, the type of champagne doesn't matter. But it should be dry, and chilled. We like Barefoot Bubbly's Brut Cuvee.
Other variations with grapefruit, orange, and lemon twists all work great, but berries and a bit of fresh lemon juice is the best.
It's a fairly potent combination, and it tastes like you could drink it all day. Take care of your guests, this one is pretty and strong.
