Climate - Sea Water Temperature - June 2026

On this page I presented the first data on Mediterranean sea water temperatures for 2026.

I have just incorporated the latest available data - until June 26, 2026 and will show some results here. 

At the end of May, the maximum temperature recorded - to the North of Mallorca - was 22,19 degrees Centigrade, on May 21.

With the June data included, the maximum temperature recorded was 29,72 degrees Centigrade on June 26 - the last day I had data for - in the area between Napoli and Sardinia.

On the chart below I am showing the maximum sea temperatures up to June 26 2026 and limited to the Western Mediterranean area.

Here the highest value recorded so far was 28,9 degrees Centigrade to the West of the island of Corsica. (Latitude 42 North Longitude 7 East)

Below I have graphed the maximum annual temperatures for these coordinates from 2005 until 2026.

Note the rising trend. Also note that, for 2026, the highest temperatures are very likely still to come.

In this last graph I have plotted the maximum water temperatures for the entire West Mediterranean area from 2005 until 2025-

Although the graph shows 'ups and downs' , we have gone from 27,17 degrees in 2005 to 29,15 degrees in 2025. Two degrees more in 20 years.
