I have just loaded in the temperature data corresponding to May 2026 from the European Climate Assessment Data Set. These are the most recent data available up to date. I will add June data as soon as it becomes available.
Note that this dataset only contains data for part of the world - mainly Europe.
Some time ago I published some data up till April (see here ).
As we had kind of a heat wave in Spain (where I live) and other parts of Europe end of May - beginning of June, I wanted to have a look at the data.
FYI, below a screenshot of the Workflow that loads the temperature data. The input data files are from www.ecad.eu/dailydata/predefinedseries.php and there selecting the 'Daily maximum temperature TX' set.
In the Workflow below I selected the Top 100 highest temperature values, joined the Station information, and created a simple report.
... and here is the output :
Curiously, out of the Top 100 highest values, 99 are in Spain (and 1 in France).
All of the top 100 values are 37 degrees Centigrade or above, and summer has not even started .
FYI , 'CASPE PLANA DEL PILON' is in Zaragoza, Northeastern part of Spain.
Coming up, I will try to have a look of maximum values for countries beside Spain and compare them to historical values...stay tuned
