In the previous part I explained how I loaded the daily information from the AEMet web site.
As I wanted to examine the latest heat wave we have experienced, I have for the moment only loaded the latest available data for July 2026, from day 1 until day 6.
I then created a simple workflow that takes the top 20 highest temperature values recorded in Spain in this period. Below the results.
The top values are all in the southern provinces of Spain. This is as expected. The range of the top 20 values is from 42,7 to 44,1 degrees Centigrade. This is bloody warm, taking into account we are still in early summer.
In the next Workflow I grouped the weather stations by Province and reported on the maximum temperature recorded in each province. Below are the results.
In 31 provinces the maximum temperature went above 40 degrees.
Maybe strangely, the 'lowest highest' values were recorded in Melilla (29,9)Â and Santa Cruz de Tenerife (35,3) , which are both in the African continent.
