Spylaw Cottage

Spylaw Cottage is a renovated old farm building situated in a fantastic location in the heart of the Simonside Hills. The cottage is ran by Blyth Valley Scout District, as a facility enabling young people to gain skills and progress within their scouting programme.

The cottage is an ideal location for a weekend skills camp, a one night stop over as part of an expedition, or a full hiking weekend in the hills, using our building as a warm shelter. We also encourage other community Youth Groups,  Schools,  Duke of Edinbrough groups and  avid hill walkers to use Spylaw as a venue for your next challenge.

The venue includes a main living area, featuring tables and chairs for dining and a wood burning stove, being the main focal point of the room. To the right is the kitchen area, which features a calor gas oven along with a sink, storage units and workbenches.

To the right of the living area is a small bed room for two people, generally a leaders room. The cottage has two main sleeping bedrooms, comprising of one with eight beds, and the other with ten. A utility room is attached to the far right hand room, with a flushing toilet and wash basin.
