What do I put in the georeference box?

Put a locality description in the georeference box. This description can be very simple (for example: "Berkeley")

or more complex (for example: "2 miles South and 3 miles West of Nederland, Colorado"). But the complex

descriptions should be in English (Spanish and Portuguese versions coming soon). You may also input public land

survey information that is used in the United States (Township, Section, Range data).

Typically, the more information you provide, the fewer choices about the "right" place you get, and the

less uncertain the georeference. But this is not always the case --- particularly when you get

an internally inconsistent place description.
