The Bicycle and Pedestrian Data Subcommittee is working on developing a national archive of data related to bicycle and pedestrian data. Bicycle and pedestrian information is so broadly defined and includes varying levels of data with different collection methods and different data accuracies that an organized data tier structure has been developed. This tiered data structure allows for varying data needs, collection methods, and data accuracies to be accounted for while also allowing the Bicycle and Pedestrian Data Subcommittee to focus on specific data areas to ensure progress in a structured format. If you have data to share, comments about the project concept, or other helpful information, please contact Liz Stolz.

Work within the following data groups are being organized by the following subcommittee leaders:
Travel Monitoring Data - (Steven Jessberger / Liz Stolz) - Travel Monitoring Data is any data thatis collected in the field, preferably that minimally contains at least 24 consecutive hours of field collected volume data. This can include bi-directional datasets with both volume and classification data. The data in this group costs the most to collect, is the least available, and requires the most time and resources to maintain.
Travel Behaviour Data - (Stacey Bricka / Jeff Frkonja) - Travel Behaviour Data is any bicycle and pedestrian data that is about the traveler. These are typically attributes to the Traffic Data Group that describe more information about the traveler such as helmet usage and gender.
Transportation Data (general) - (Scott Brady / Shawn Turner / Nancy Lefler) - Transportation Data is any data that is used for advanced data modeling that does not fall into the Traffic or Traveler Data groups such as GPS data.
BICYCLE & PEDESTRIAN COUNT DATA CLEARING HOUSES:
On the bicycle and pedestrian traffic monitoring side, many on-line data clearing houses are being created. Below is a quick list of some of them:
