The Bicycle and Pedestrian Data Subcommittee of the Transportation Research Board invites you to join in a conversation with colleagues about issues involved when using big data such as Strava to improve bicycle and pedestrian counts. Objectives of this discussion-centric conversation are:
• To introduce methods, issues, and considerations when working with big data;
• To provide an overview of bias in big data and fusion of multiple complementary types of data; and
• To build the community of practitioners and researchers who are advancing the nonmotorized traffic monitoring field.
The majority of the time will be an opportunity for participants to ask questions and to discuss their experiences with big data. The Subcommittee particularly encourages participation from people who have experience with and curiosity about making decisions with big bicycling and pedestrian data. Members of the Bike and Ped Data Subcommittee will facilitate the conversation. Participants will include:
