The 2020 Conversations with Colleagues series begins with a discussion on some of the new methods for collecting bicycle and pedestrian count data. Bahar Dadashova will be discussing some of the findings from the TRB Workshop Session “Making Sense of Emerging Data Sources for Nonmotorized Transportation: Tools, Tips, and Knowledge Gaps for Effective Analysis” and Sean Co will be speaking to some of the new methods that are taking place on the private side. These new methods will drastically shape how nonmotorized data is collected and how it will impact our world.

Sean Co - Sean is the Director of Special Projects at Streetlight Data where he helps customers with custom solutions for their transportation data needs. Sean is a transportation planner with 25 years of experience working with government agencies, consulting and tech firms. Sean was the GM of Strava Metro, a consultant for a planning and engineering firm and has worked at three MPOs in California.
Bahar Dadashova –Bahar Dadashova is an interdisciplinary safety researcher at Texas A&M Transportation Institute. She holds a B.S. degree in Economics, an M.S. degree in Statistics and a Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering. She has developed concepts and methodologies using statistical, machine learning, and econometric models to address questions in transportation safety and operations, congestion, micro/shared/automated mobility, emerging and crowdsourcing transportation technologies, socio-economic transportation planning, air quality, public health and equity among others. Dr. Dadashova has published over 30 papers and technical reports and has managed and supported over 40 projects. She has participated in projects related to transportation data analytics in the U.S. and Europe. She is co-chair of the Bicycle Research subcommittee (ANF20) and an active friend of Safety Data, Analysis, and Evaluation (ANB20) and Highway Safety Performance (ANB25) committees. She is also affiliated with the American Statistical Association, Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Professionals, Institute of Transportation Engineers, IEEE, Royal Statistics Society and Transportation Research Board (TRB)..
