A Bible Timeline Banner Presents A Graphical Approach To Convey Bible Events And Characters And Facts
Regrettably, a many Pastors and teachers in our churches continue to preach light weight, flimsy, superficial, shallow messages and their congregation barely grow in Bible knowledge. Preachers love to give us'moral essays' and'warming affirmations' because supposedly, if we really love our people this is what we'll do. Too bad it seems, if God's men and women are falling through the cracks'for a lack of knowledge' so long as we're nice and loving to all. In truth, the more like the world, the less relevant we're to the world.
Some years ago, I was teaching on the burial, life, death and resurrection of Jesus, and a retired pastor and powerful preacher of the Bible, who had been a minister for 40 years, marched up and reproved me smartly over some fascinating points I made and he stated 1Ti 1:4'Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.' I humbly asked him if I was preaching anything of a heretical nature in any way, to which he replied"No". I continued to explain that in the case of that particular verse, it wasn't referring to examining Scripture but to the false teachings and school of thought of Gnosticism, but he wouldn't have it. Let me ask, how can a 40 year minister & laborer in the Gospel, not understand and know about a thing that possibly 1/2 the books of the New Testament refer to?
How can he study and preach the Bible fully without being aware of a thing that was so influential in the New Testament church? And then how can the congregation hope to comprehend these things and be in a position to understand their Bible well, if they're not told?
Let's us as tutors and preachers stitch together the fragments of God's Word and His plan into a complete picture that our people can draw on for the remainder of life, helping them to comprehend God, His Eternal Plan, the role of the Church and how to better translate the Bible to model our lives by.
It is not hard to do, and it's not boring if we're ready to put in a bit of study with prayer and fervor, and just possibly you can utilize a Bible Timeline too.
