Assignment 1:  Gmail

1.  In order to become familiar with some of the features of Gmail, watch the first three (minimum) videos of the embedded playlist below:

2.  If you have a Gmail account, login.  

• If you do not already have Gmail, create a Google Account by navigating to https://accounts.google.com/SignUp (alternate link - click here) and following the instructions.   

3.  Once you complete the process of logging in or creating a new account, your inbox will appear.  

• Select the "Compose" button on the upper left hand side to send me an email. 

• My address is simmerj@bibbed.org

  • make sure to include your name and the period number of the class in the "Subject" line.  

  • In the message box, just say "This is my gmail address."  

  • Then press send.

4.  Afterwards, if you are new to Gmail, read the three messages that the Gmail support team automatically sends to every new account.  

• These messages will be located in your inbox.  They contain helpful information about using your new account.  

5.  Finally, visit the following webpage ( http://digitalunite.com/guides/email/how-create-gmail-account) to learn how to customize your account.  

• Make sure you upload a profile picture.  

• You may also want to check out Google+ while you're adjusting your profile.  It is one of many Google products or apps that are automatically linked to your Gmail account.   

Good job!  You created your very own Gmail account, and sent your first email.  You uploaded a profile picture, and learned how to customize your account.  Now let's move on to Assignment 2...
