The Hull & District scored heavily this Saturday, 31st August 2019, in the u140 section at the Darnall & Handsworth Rapid tournament in Sheffield:
Daniel Hill from Hull Chess Club came first with 5.5 out of 6,
Ned came joint 2nd with 4.5 out of 6 (no losses either!) and Bruce Oliver and Alec Grice came joint 5th with 4 out of 6.
Beverley Westwood win the u500 section in the Summer League 2019!

Beverley A came very close but unfortunately had to settle for 2nd place in the u650 section (Summer League 2019):
12 players competed over 8 rounds to be crowned Beverley Blitz champion 2019. Graham scored an incredible 6.5 out of 8 to take the title:
This weekend the 21st 4NCL tournament took place in Harrogate. Two Beverley players competed in the Major: Paul Kendall and Alec Grice.
Alec didn't have a great tournament but Paul came joint 1st with 4.5 out of 5!

Final standings:
Alec played in the 11-round British Rapid Tournament, held in Ilkley, 24-25 November. He managed to win the grading prize in the Intermediate section with a score of 6.5 points.

Both Tim Turner and Ned Carmichael were unbeaten, with 3 wins and 2 draws, and came second in their respective sections at the 55th Hull Congress: Tim in the Major and Ned in the Intermediate. Full results can be found here:
Gerry Johnstone was joint 3rd in the Inter.
In addition, both Tom Hacket and yours truly passed their first arbiter assessment, successfully running the Inter and Open sections respectively.
