From the Pastor…
Bethel’s Heritage
On Sunday, June 22, our Lutheran Community honored Pastor Charles Gustafson by celebrating his sixty years of ordained ministry. He was pastor of Bethel for 21 of those sixty years. His pastorate not only lives on as legacy to Bethel, but also as a gift to the whole Lutheran Church. While I was privileged to speak at the event held at Holy Trinity, I was especially proud to see the wealth of information and memorabilia on display. We give great thanks to the members of the Heritage Committee and others who gathered materials from our archives for this event. I also thank all of you who were able to attend the worship and luncheon, and all who contributed cookies. They were delicious. Congratulations, Pastor Chuck!!
Bethel’s Plans for the Future
This is an important developmental time in the life of Bethel Lutheran Church as I continue to serve as Intentional Interim Pastor. I commend to you President Gregg Davis’ council article on the next page. It conveys important information on Bethel’s plans, council leadership, and vision for the near future.
The Damon Family
Newer members of Bethel include the Damon Family. Craig is an officer with the Jamestown Police. Jaime is a teacher at Fletcher School. While they attended worship regularly before their twin daughters, Gabriella and Giovanna, were born, they joined the congregation on December 15, 2013 when their daughters were baptized. Their newborn son, Grant Salvatore, is receiving care at the neonatal intensive care unit at Childrens’ Hospital in Buffalo. We are helping them with our prayers, as well as gas and food cards. If you would like to contribute, please place your gift in the offering plate or send to Bethel.
Food Cupboard
Progress continues toward upgrading the food cupboard with shelving and a refrigerator. If you donate funds for either food or equipment, please designate your wishes on your donation. Thank you!
