From the Pastor…
It does not even seem possible that I am completing 11 months as your Intentional Interim Pastor, and our time together is not over yet. It has been my privilege these past months to see spirits rise and hope increase. It has also been my privilege to witness the many ways that Bethel has and continues to live beyond itself in m mission and ministry. Here are a few of them:
* The worship of Bethel on both Sundays with traditional style and Saturdays in contemporary mode has inspired me. The resurgence of the vocal and bell choirs was striking.
* Our numbers were not great in Sunday School, but the quality of the experience was wonderful.
* To see hungry people leaving Bethel with food for themselves and their families was matched with the regular supply of food brought in by Bethel folks. How exciting that the cupboard will expand to new quarters with donated shelves and a refrigerator to enable us to give perishable food. The gifts included a generous gift from the coffee fund! We also plan to make food available during an evening time when both patrons and volunteers who cannot come during the day can participate.
* Much energy is going into building repair and maintenance, with roof repairs, stained glass window restoration, maintenance of the landscaping and plans for kitchen renewal.
* The Sunshine Committee is brining meals to members in need.
These are only a few examples of how Bethel lives to do God’s work with our hands. What would you add to this list of strengths at bethel?
Please read President Gregg Davis Council letter for more examples of Bethel’ life in Christ.
