After living in Georgia for a few years, I bought a motorcycle, quit my job (right before the housing-bubble-crash-induced financial crisis, 'cause why not), and moved nearly all my belongings up to NH in my 2001 VW golf.
I then flew back down to get my 1980 XS850 Yamaha Midnight Special and took it around the country.
This site is dedicated to that trip and the thoughts I had along the way.
There are some photos and some information too but you'll soon learn that I know next to nothing about motorcycles and did very little research about what I'd do and see along the way.
Additionally, this is written retroactively by about 11 years so what little I did know is a distant memory.
Pre-trip photos:
As a final note, before I left for my trip, I sent the following email to all my close friends and relatives and prototyped one of my favorite ideas at the time, the (PicklePicker" (shown at the very bottom as an incentive to scroll down).
It should be noted the only real response I received was from my friend David who said, "this glimpse into your mind terrifies me...".
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hey all,
i'm about to take off on my motorcycle trip and since i don't have a
job lined up i thought maybe one of you would want to help develop any
of these random ideas i've had over the years. might be one or two
good ones in the bunch (most are extremely weird, unuseful, or not
even ideas so much as concepts or a random thought that popped into my
head one day and i had to write it down someplace... so ummmm, sorry?
and, hope you like these things... well... you'll see). Oh, and its
ok to send any of these along to close friends or family members,
haha. Look forward to your feedback, and take your time!
