Planting the ferns is easy. You should have a small pot and a Ziploc full of soil for this purpose in your lab box. Put the soil in the pot and fully moisten the soil. You can place a saucer under the pot to protect your furniture. Using gloves if you see any signs of fungus in the dish, carefully scoop the ferns on the agar out of the petri dish (with a knife or spoon) and plant shallowly on moist soil. Mist with water regularly and water to keep the soil damp to the touch. Voila, enjoy watching them grow!
They may soon look like these that were grown in petri dishes during a previous semester.
