Fern Journal Update

This is a continuation of an exercise started in week 2. See also instructions for watering fern plates in week 8.

Add a new fern journal entry with a new photograph of your fern dish and a description of changes. Use the icon that looks like a landscape photo (3rd from left in bottom row) to embed your photo directly into your journal post. Include a measurement of the approximate size of the gametophytes now (measure as best you can with the smallest lines on your ruler, which are millimeters).

• Open the dish and use your hand lens to look for developing sporophytes, which will look like vertical structures growing upward out of the gametophytes. Specify whether you find them, and if so, approximately how many gametophytes have sporophytes growing out of them.
