Tornado Outbreak Movie

Tornado Alley, 26 May 2013 - 01 June 2013, GOES-14 satellite provided this imagery from its parking orbit at 105West, while GOES-13 recovered at 75West from a meteorite strike. The last week of May experienced daily tornado outbreaks throughout the Midwest, fueled by moisture streaming northward out of the Gulf and heated by a strong dose of early summer sun.

On Friday, May 31, three Discovery Channel "storm chasers" in central Oklahoma were killed by a multiple-vortex storm, and three other "storm chasers" from the Weather Channel were shaken up when a tornado tossed their SUV 200 yards.
