ARECC Radio System

The Amateur Radio Emergency Communications Center (ARECC) consists of four operator positions that have the capability of operating on amateur and commercial radio frequencies from 1.8 KHz through 1.3 GHz. Plans to expand the room to full capability are in place and currently is partially capable and will be fully capable as funding to purchase the required equipment becomes available.

A WiFi system is available inside the ARECC and throughout the building, allowing for additional Operator positions to be established outside of the ARECC room in other parts of the building and in the parking lot as well.

An eighty seat classroom with sophisticated audio and video equipment can be used for agency "In-Time Training". In-Time Training quickly instructs a large group of people and rapidly aids in completing required forms before operators are sent to field assignments.

Visual Aid and computer resources in the ARECC are also available within the building complex. Training and informational briefings can be easily provided just about anywhere in the facility. This includes the 800 plus seat auditorium at the end of the hallway.

The Butler County VHF Association (BCVHFA) and the Butler County Amateur Radio Emergency Communications (BCAREC) team has a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that allows access to the three repeaters and Amateur Radio Emergency Communication Center located at the Butler Technology and Career Center. As part of the MOU, the BCAREC team will support agency emergency communications.

The ARECC has a direct dial phone line 513-428-5750. We request it be used for activation's and emergencies only as it is a single non-rollover line.

2004 this is what the radio room looked like. We used folding tables and home made shelving to support the equipment. Computers, power supplies etc. were placed on the floor that ofter got wet when the cleaning crew mopped the floors.
