Frank Lloyd Wright

If you really want to see many houses of Frank Lloyd Wright, the best destination is Chicago, Oak Park. There are tours throughout the year. Some houses are just walk-by as they are still living dwellings. But some belong to various foundations, these days.

We in Michigan have a long list of Lloyd's "early to late" works (please find the list by scrolling down this page). Some of his later works are real Mid Century Style. My favorite one, in heart of Detroit, is Turkel house.

This house is in Palmer's Wood Neighborhood. We had a chance to see the house through the "Neighborhood Association Garden Tours and Parties" in August of 2017. It is a Gem!

Meyer May House In Grand Rapids Michigan

Meyer House In Grand Rapids Michigan is one of the best-restored Frank Lloyd Wright homes in the nation. The Meyer May House is notable for its rare Prairie style and its low horizontal profile and cantilevered balconies and porches. The house was completed in 1909 with a style in contrast to the tall Victorian, large Colonial Revival and quaint English cottage style homes of the historic neighborhood. The house went through many changes (partitioned, got additions) throughout years. In 1970s it was bought by Steelcase Inc. and restored to its very original shape and furnishings.
