Alden B. Dow (April 10, 1904 – August 20, 1983) was an American architect based in Midland, Michigan. He was the son of Herbert Henry Dow (founder of the Dow Chemical Company). He is indeed a Mid Century Modern Architect (1930-1965) who had some of his training under Frank Lloyd Wright.
Alden made the city of Midland in Michigan to be the "Mecca of MCM Architecture" for Michigan.
Dow was named the architect laureate of Michigan in 1983, shortly before his death. His house, garden, and studio in Midland, Michigan are open to public for visit.
First Presbyterian Church In Dearborn (1964), Michigan
While I was researching Alden Dow's work, I learned that the First Presbyterian Church On Brady Street in Dearborn, Michigan is Designed by him (1964). My husband I take bike rides every summer in our neighborhood. I had seen the building many times and I love it dearly. But I had no idea who the designer was. I have shared some pictures in here with you. However seeing the building "up close and personal" is a whole different experience (A timeless one! I will promise)
