Clearaudio Virtuoso Wood, Moving Magnet Cartridge

My Opinion: Paired with my Ovation TT and Clarify tonearm (standard on Ovation), and Simaudio's 310LP phonostage, this Virtuoso really does live up to its moniker. It delivers rich mids, tight, accurate double bass, and the highs are never too strident or harsh. Vocal jazz albums, like Pat Barber's Modern Cool and Companion, sound delicious, as did any well-recorded disc. For orchestral pieces, depending on miking, the soundstage can be sublime, with massed strings sounding gorgeous and well-separated from the delicate woodwinds. Wow. I must say, this combo of the Ovation and Virtuoso has me re-thinking my digital prejudices and re-listening to my LP library. Bravo, Clearaudio.
