The Herra People
The Herra people are renowned for their friendliness and hospitality. They were given the nickname ‘scarfs’ which is the Shetland word for cormorants.
A short rhyme from an earlier time:
North-a-voe for poverty, South-a-voe for pride
Basta for a pretty lass, the Herra for a bride
