Antoni Nomdedeu Rull is Associate Professor at the Rovira i Virgili University (Spain) (accredited as Full Professor by ANECA). He is professor of Hispanic Lexicography and Spanish as a Foreign Language Teaching. He taught in Italy (2004-2010) –at “L’Orientale” University of Naples, “Suor Orsola Benincasa” University of Naples and University of L’Aquila–, in Cuba –at the Center for Applied Linguistics in Santiago de Cuba– and in Denmark –at Aarhus University (Visiting Scholar 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2022)–. In collaboration with Esther Forgas, in 2011 he won the Vicens Vives award for teaching quality from the Government of Catalonia for the URV training program for Chinese students.
His main research interests are Lexicography, Terminology, History of the Spanish Language and Spanish as a Foreign language Teaching and Learning. He has published 100 papers, some of which have appeared in well-known and indexed academic journals –for instance, Quaderns de Filologia. Estudis Lingüístics, International Journal of Sport Science, Asclepio, Journal of Spanish Language Teaching, Arbor, Boletín de la Real Academia Española, Lexicographica, International Journal of Lexicography or Revista de Filología Española– and 10 books –among others, he has authored a paper dictionary, Diccionario de fútbol (2009), and co-authored Introducción a la lexicografía en español. Funciones y aplicaciones with Sven Tarp (2014, Routledge)–. He has also communicated his scientific contributions through more than 20 conferences (in Cuba, Brazil, Egypt, Spain, France, Italy or China) and media appearances (RNE or Marca).
Currently, he coordinates the group of experts in the history of the Spanish language at the URV integrated into the Pan-Hispanic Network of collaborating teams of the Diccionario histórico de la lengua española of the Real Academia Española.
He is co-principal investigator of the project Transformación digital y patrimonio lexicográfico: preservación y aprovechamiento de los datos sobre el léxico especializado (1884-1936) (Ref.: PID2022-137147NB-I00). He is a member of the Consolidated Group of the Generalitat de Catalunya “Lexicografía, Diacronía y ELE ” (2021 SGR 00157) directed from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. At the URV he is part of the Research Group on Lexicografía y Enseñanza de Lenguas Extranjeras (LEXELE). He is also a member of the Research Group on the Language of Science and Technology (18th-19th Centuries) (Neolcyt) and the Thematic Network “Lengua y Ciencia”. He has supervised 9 doctoral theses. He is the editor-in-chief of the Revista Internacional de Lenguas Extranjeras (RILE) –FECYT, ANVUR (Q1), CIRC (A) and Dialnet métricas (Q1)– and Secretary of the Asociación para la Enseñanza del Español como Lengua Extranjera (ASELE) (since 2019).
