I am a Professor at the University of Fortaleza - UNIFOR, Fortaleza-CE, Brazil, in the Center of Technological Sciences (CCT), where I am a faculty member for the BSc in Computer Science and the MSc and PhD programs in Applied Informatics (PPGIA). Before joining PPGIA-UNIFOR, I was a Visiting Lecturer during two years at the Department of Computing - UFC, Fortaleza-CE, Brazil.  I was the General Chair and Program Co-chair for the 2002 and 2005 Brazilian Conference on Graphics, Patterns and Images (SIBGRAPI), respectively, and also the Program Chair (Computing Track) for the 2015 Simpósio Brasileiro de Jogos e Entretenimento Digital (SBGames'15). I am a member of the editorial review board of the International Journal of Handheld Computing Research (IJHCR) and Associate Editor of the ACM Computers in Entertainment (CIE) magazine. Currently, I am acting as Guest Editor for the journals Elsevier Entertainment Computing (ECJ) and SBC Journal on Interactive Systems (JIS), Program Committee member for the 5th International Conference on Serious Games and Applications for Health (SeGAH'17), and Co-Chair for the 2017 Workshop on Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality and Wearable Technologies (a SeGAH'17 Special Track).

Research Interests

I am interested in Serious Games, Interactive Computer Graphics, Virtual Reality, and Mobility.  My research has focused on Interactive Ray Tracing for Games; Game Engines, Visibility Culling Techniques and Spatial Data Structures; Fast, Precise and Scalable Broad Phase Collision Detection Algorithms; 3D Computer Animation and Multi-Platform Games; Physics Engines; GPU Programming; Advanced Interactive Interfaces (haptic and motion sensing input devices); Virtual Environments for Training in Healthcare; and Music Visualization.
