Essential Questions by Element
These questions are entirely based off of my personal research of the Danielson Model of Teacher Evaluation. I have personally always taken teacher evaluation very seriously and as a way for Administrators and Teachers to work collaboratively in growing and developing into effective professionals that always have students interests first. The questions are a way to provide evidence and summaries of instructional practice that are at times are overlooked. These could be used as preparation for a teacher,
or as conference questions by an evaluator.

Must Have Resources
Professional Learning
This is an area that often is overlooked. Often, teachers will tell me, well since the district does not provide me with learning, them I am not obligated to learn. Since districts are so strapped for money, the professional learning rests now on the teacher. Teachers need to realize that this is their career. It is their responsibility and obligation to remain current in their profession, in their content area, and in their pedagogy.
This is an organization that breaks professional learning into standards and outlines the characteristics of effective professional learning, even discussing how effective professional learning can positively effect student learning.
So often, teachers will tell me that they believe they are leaders and when I ask them why, they struggle telling me. Some will say, well, they coach, or they are the note-taker in team meetings, but they miss the whole picture. Having a mind of the "big picture" is hard. This resources gives some great advice on how to be that real teacher leader in your school and in your district.
Must Have Resources
Professionalism
&
Ethics
.
This is a collection of what my staff believed professionalism to be. This topic can bring some fierce controversy to any staff. One person's definition of professionalism is not another's and to implement the same rules on the that same person causes that controversy. So, together as a staff, these are the "rules" that were created. It was interesting to me to see many of the concerns that I had of the staff in this area. I would have liked to take this another step further and determine as a staff what would be most appropriate to do when staff did not follow the agreed upon "rules."
It is amazing to me just how many teachers have no idea that there is a "school code" or "state expectations" of educators. The above code of ethics is quite explicit of the expectations for all educators. Often, teachers lose their jobs because they have violated the code, or done something inappropriate, or unethical. So study up!Â
