Cities and Urban Landscapes

Most of the world’s population lives in urban areas. An understanding of where, how and why cities evolved is critical to understanding modern societies. Reading the landscapes of cities allows us to better understand how cities function and how urban design affects the lives of city dwellers, as well as how a city's residents continually re-shape cities to meet evolving needs and desires.
