What we eat is affected by a number of factors. Family traditions probably influence our eating habits more than anything, but those were developed over generations in geographic-environmental contexts, which are often lost to time and memory. Other factors, like governmental farm policy, economics, cultural cross-polination among neighbors, and seredipity also clearly affect where people eat different types of food. The map and image galleries below help visitors to this site see a learn a bit about various American food traditions. I only wish this website offered a tasting option!
