Aug 12: Rearrange schedule so Darren can experience a hike in the Stubai Alps.
Bus from Ranalt to end of Stubai Alps (Mutterbert Alm, glacier ski lift) (1725m; 5659 ft)
Hike up to Dresdner Hüt (2208m; 7244 ft) > then switchbacks up to Peiljoch (pass) (2672m; 8766 ft)
Memorable landscape (hundreds of cairns, 11,000 ft peaks in background (Austria/Italy border)
Descend to Sulzenau Hüt (2200m; 7217 ft) > and down to Grawa Falls (1580 ft).
Checked out of Ranalt and drove 3 hrs to the lower Engadin (SE corner of Switzerland).
Lodged in the tiny village of Ramosch (Pension LaRandulina). Incredible dinner!

Aug. 10: Hike on opposite side of valley. Trailhead at Waldcafe (1 mile from Ranalt). (Elev 1250m; 4100 ft)
Switchbacks > Falbesoner OchsenAlm (1822m; 5978 ft) > Neue Regensburger Hüt (2287m; 7503 ft)
3400 ft elev gain in 2 hrs
8 miles; 6900 feet elev +/-
Aug. 9: Earned a much needed day's rest. Bus to Innsbruck (about an hour through all the tiny villages).
Aug. 8: Lodging at Gasthaus Falbesoner (39 Euro) in the tiny village of Ranalt, Austria. Hans and Ellen, owners, are awesome! Last year they stated "you're the first American we've seen in over 7 yrs." They can't say that now :)
Ranalt: walk out back door (1360m; 4461 ft) to trailhead up to BsuchAlm, then up to the Nurnberger Hüt (2279m; 7477 ft).
Ascend to Grünau Pass (2630m; 8600 ft) > descend to Sulzenau Hüt (2200m; 7217 ft)
Return via Grawa Falls (spectacular beauty, steep & slippery after much rain).
