Drive from Val Gardena, Italy to Munich (4 hrs).
IMPORTANT NOTE: The only negative experience on the entire trip was that (as probably everyone's experienced) United Airlines absolutely sucks (excuse the language). Never again.
Our last day. Returned car to Munich Airport and took train to Munich Central. Walked 1km to Munich-One Motel (94 Euro for two). Friendly management and was impressed with cleanliness and pride in keeping the place looking great.
Entrance to MarienPlatz and old town just across the street, and spent the afternoon doing the history, architecture, and Saturday market experience.
Hilarious story: We stop at Altes Hachenhaus (est. 1738) for a highly recommended authentic German meal and brew. The waitress asks Darren what type of beer he'd like and he shows them a picture off his iPhone of the type of local Munich beer he's enjoyed on the trip. The waitress starts babbling mixed German/English and points to the local beer that they serve. Finally we're made to understand that we are in the oldest brewery in Germany that is famous for their own beer, and that we are actually in their brewery, and that they do not offer the beer of the competitor across the street. Ha, very humbling. She then proceeded to talk to the other group of waitresses and we all had a huge laugh.
Great beer, but not wise to order when you
are in their competitors brewery :)
Also a good beer, and wise to order when in their brewery!
Other pics from Munich:
Incredible airlines. Everybody treated like 1st class. Flying over Ireland. Looks desolate.
