2022 Scott Hardwick

SCOTT HARDWICK – 2022 Choir Honoree

This year’s Choir Honoree, Scott Hardwick is a man of strong faith who quietly serves God. A self professed, behind the scenes kind of guy, you are probably unaware of even half of what Scott has done to serve the Lord.

Scott grew up in Friesburg with his parents, four sisters and three brothers. He attended Aldine Methodist Church and went to Woodstown High School. Scott worked on the neighboring McAllister farm as a teen and continued working there until he got a job as a mechanic at BR Williams, a position he still holds. For relaxation, Scott likes to watch the Eagles and Steelers play. He also enjoys the peace and solitude of mowing.

One of Scott’s favorite verses is Joshua 24:15: As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. A family man, Scott is devoted to his wife Jen, his son Jim, daughter Jayne and stepson Cody. Both Jim and Jayne have followed in their Dad’s footsteps, serving the Lord in various ministries here at Aldine. Scott was always faithful in taking them to church and Sunday School. Cody graduated from army boot camp in Georgia on December 16th, a day before the cantata dress rehearsal. A testimony to his devotion, Scott must have driven all night because he showed up at the dress rehearsal shortly after it started.

Scott has been a faithful member of the choir for over 20 years. His deep bass voice and unshakable faith have provided a foundation for the choir. Scott says that one of his favorite things about singing in the choir is the fellowship and family atmosphere in the group. With a little coaxing, he has agreed to sing duets in the past as well as in a family quartet with Marilyn, Jim and Jayne. They sang one of Scott’s favorite hymns, And Can It Be..

In addition to singing in the choir, Scott has been on the Board of Trustees for many years. According to Head of Trustees, Jean Wieting, Scott is “pure gold.” Whether a light bulb needs changing or equipment needs repair, Scott can always be relied upon to do the job. Although a man of few words, when he chooses to speak, you can count on carefully chosen decisive words of wisdom. Scott is also an usher, using his talents to make sure things work smoothly during the service.

One of the best words to describe Scott is steadfast. He can be relied upon counted on, as a husband, father, and friend. Romans 8:31, another of Scott’s favorite verses states, what then, can we say to these things, If God is for us, who can be against us? Scott’s humble service is a testimony to the power of unfailing belief in the faithfulness of our Savior. A man of integrity, Scott is a reminder that actions truly speak louder than words. He lives out his faith, behind the scenes serving others.

Twenty Years in the Aldine Choir

Tune – Erie Canal

I know a man and his name is Scott;

Twenty years in the Aldine Choir.

He sings a mean bass, but don’t say a lot;

Twenty years in the Aldine Choir.

Behind the scenes he works real hard;

In the church and in the yard.

And we hold him in high regard;

Glad he’s in the Aldine choir—

Good man, with a heart so true;

Trustee – and an usher too;

You can always count on Scotty;

He’ll always be your friend;

And you’ll find him serving Jesus

til the bitter end!
