Policies and Procedures

Water meters will be read on or around the 20th of each month.

AHCWD WATER RATES

For specific details, refer to Water Ordinance No. 14/15-1

As of June 25, 2015 the monthly cost of water to customers is composed of two charges, a fixed service charge and a variable water usage charge. 

Fixed service charge =  $84 per month

Variable water usage charge = 37¢ per cubic foot   [Section 13.01]

For properties that include a dwelling in addition to the main residence, as of June 25th 2015 there will be an added fixed charge of $84 for each additional and separate dwelling.    [Section 13.02]

These rates will remain in effect for 5 years from the 5/26/15 ordinance adoption.   [Section 13.03]

Application for Water Service: $25 + deposit if required  [A1.03.01]  

Transfer Fee:  $600   [A2.02]  

New Connection Fee:  $35,000   [A2.03.01] 

Accounts are due 15 days after billing and are delinquent if not paid by the end of the month.

Late Fee:  $15   [Section 8.05]

Past Due Accounts:  Late Fee + 1%/month on unpaid balance   [Section 8.06]

Dishonored Checks:  $35   [A1.03.3] 

POLICIES REGARDING NON-PAYMENT

If an account is not brought to a zero balance by the end of a calendar month, a late payment penalty of $15 will be charged.  There will also be an interest rate of 1% per month plus an additional late penalty of $15 per month calculated on any unpaid balance.   [Section 8.05-8.06, 8.10]         

Delinquent accounts will receive a 10-day shut off notice.   [Sections 8.05-8.06, 8.10]      

Service may be discontinued for non-payment of bills.   [Sections 8.05, 8.08. 8.10] 

A reactivation fee of $75 would then be charged.   [Sections 8.08, 8.10]

SPECIAL PROVISIONS

Please contact the District before using large amounts of water, for instance to fill pools and tanks, to ensure there is sufficient water so as not to inconvenience other customers.  This is particularly important during periods of drought/system maintenance and/or repair.   [Section 12.01] 

PLEASE NOTE

Section 3.06 of the Ordinance, Damage from Leaking Pipes and Fixtures, states "...the District's jurisdiction and responsibility cease at the end of the service connection and in no case will the District be liable for damages caused by water running from open or faulty fixtures, or from broken or damaged pipes beyond the District's meter connection."  [Section 3.06]
