Probability
Probability is one of my favorite subjects! I've had the opportunity to teach it on multiple occasions: At UW-Eau Claire, for undergraduate math majors taking the probability and statistics sequence, and to high school and middle school students through the Cornell University-Ithaca High School Senior Seminar and the Cornell Graduate School Outreach Program. I'm also currently teaching a combined course in probability and statistics at UW-Eau Claire.
While teaching Probability at UW-Eau Claire, I taught students to use the statistical software and programming language R to conduct simulations, compute probabilities, and develop their conceptual understanding. As in all my courses, I also devoted a large portion of class time to individual and group problem-solving. Some examples of these activities (along with the full curricula I designed and taught to the middle school and high school students) are available below.
